Basic Pistol - Mississippi Enhanced Permit (MEP) Women Only - This one-day BFTA™ proprietary course curriculum is limited to eight ladies and led by a female instructor. Upon successful completion of the course, you will qualify for the Enhanced Endorsement to the Mississippi Firearms Permit.

Intro 2 ​Concealed Carry - This one-day course is designed for concealed carry handguns, pocket pistols, or revolvers.  Students will learn the fundamentals of carrying a handgun for personal protection, and information to make everyday concealed carry comfortable and convenient.  The course includes information on essential carry gear and instruction on how to safely carry and draw your handgun from your preferred carry mode. It also introduces additional carry modes and holsters for inside and outside the waistband, pocket, purse, appendix, ankle, crossdraw carry and the advantages and disadvantages of each.  Please note: This course does not qualify for the MS Enhanced Permit endorsement.

​Prerequisite: A valid Firearms / Carry Permit OR Criminal Background Check from your Chief Law Enforcement Officer, OR Previous Boondocks FTA Course

What to bring:

  • Concealed Carry Handgun, Pocket Pistol or Revolver
  • Good quality Kydex, or other rigid inside or outside the waistband holster, Concealed Carry Purse, Pocket Holster, Belly Band or Ankle Holster.  You will be drawing and re-holstering multiple times so the holster must be safe and relatively easy to re-holster.  The instructor has the final say on if the holster can be used in the course.  
  • 150 Rounds of ammunition 
  • Minimum 3 magazines or speed loaders for your firearm
  • Eye protection, ear protection (electronic preferred), ​ball cap/sun visor
  • ​Sunscreen, bug spray

What to wear:

  • High neck shirts/t-shirt, closed toe shoes, pants or shorts with belt loops and loose pockets

Intro 2 Defensive Pistol - This is a one-day class designed for compact or full sized semi-automatic pistols 9mm or larger.  Students are introduced to the fundamentals of defensive handgun shooting--"learning how to fight with a handgun."  The goal is for students to become more proficient with their pistol by focusing on drawing from a strong side hip holster, efficient loading techniques, clearing malfunctions, and preparing you for more advanced techniques found in Defensive Pistol I and II. 

Prerequisite:  A valid Firearms / Carry Permit OR Criminal Background Check from your Chief Law Enforcement Officer, OR Previous Boondocks FTA Course

What to bring:

  • Compact or Full Sized semi-automatic pistol – 9mm or larger
  • Quality Polymer, Kydex, or other rigid material holster. Strong side hip holsters are preferred, but strong side IWB holsters and cover garments are allowed. Your holster MUST be gun specific and you MUST be able to re-holster one handed.  The instructor has the final say on if the holster can be used in the course. Appendix carry is not allowed.
  • Quality Gun Belt 
  • 200 Rounds of ammunition 
  • 4 high-capacity magazines (12+ capacity), or 7 (7+ capacity) magazines
  • ​At least 1 double magazine holder 
  • Eye protection, ear protection (electronic preferred), ​ball cap/sun visor
  • Sunscreen, bug spray

​​Defensive Pistol I (DP1) - This is a comprehensive two-day class designed for compact or full sized semi-automatic pistols 9mm or larger. The course teaches the fundamentals of defensive shooting with a handgun --"learning how to fight with a handgun."  In this course you will be drawing from a holster, using multiple loading techniques, advanced malfunction drills, and intermediate shooting techniques on our turning target system, and prepares you for our Defensive Pistol II course.

Beginner Handgun Classes

​​​​Defensive Pistol II (DP2) - This three-day comprehensive course is designed to take your knowledge and skills of defensive firearm shooting to the next level. Students will learn advanced shooting techniques, including multiple shooting positions, how to use cover and concealment and shooting on the move.  Day two includes retention shooting, advanced drills designed to simulate high stress scenarios with multiple attackers, one handed handgun manipulations drills and a night shoot using multiple flashlight techniques.  Day three is conducted in our Shoot Houses and includes multiple scenario reenactments using force-on-force training with non-lethal munitions.

Prerequisite: Defensive Pistol - Level I and a valid Firearms / Carry Permit OR Criminal Background Check from your Chief Law Enforcement Officer

  • Semi-automatic pistol – 9mm or larger

Basic Pistol - Mississippi Enhanced Permit (MEP) - This is a one-day BFTA™ proprietary course curriculum designed to teach students how to safely use a handgun. It also covers different types of pistols and revolvers, how they operate, pros and cons of each type, and the proper ammunition for each. This course covers the importance of being aware of your surroundings ("situational awareness"), introduces defensive firearms concepts, and covers the legal and ethical aspects of carrying and using a firearm in defense of your self and/or others. The completion of this course qualifies students for the Enhanced Endorsement to the Mississippi Firearms Permit.
