This three-day comprehensive course is designed to take your knowledge and skills of defensive firearm shooting to the next level. Students will learn advanced shooting techniques, including multiple shooting positions, how to use cover and concealment and shooting on the move.  Day two includes retention shooting, advanced drills designed to simulate high stress scenarios with multiple attackers, one handed handgun manipulation drills and a night shoot using multiple flashlight techniques.  Day three is conducted in our Shoot Houses and includes multiple scenario reenactments using force-on-force training with non-lethal munitions.

This is a one-day BFTA™ proprietary course curriculum designed to teach students how to safely use a handgun. It also covers different types of pistols and revolvers, how they operate, pros and cons of each type, and the proper ammunition for each. This course covers the importance of being aware of your surroundings ("situational awareness"), introduces defensive firearms concepts, and covers the legal and ethical aspects of carrying and using a firearm in defense of your self and/or others. 

The completion of this course qualifies students for the Enhanced Endorsement to the Mississippi Firearms Permit.

The course teaches the fundamentals of defensive shooting with a handgun --"learning how to fight with a handgun."  In this course you will be drawing from a holster, using multiple loading techniques, advanced malfunction drills, and intermediate shooting techniques on our turning target system. This course is designed to prepare you for our Defensive Pistol II course.

Beginning in 2019 this course will be renamed Defensive Carry 

Intermediate

This is a one-day class designed for compact or full sized semi-automatic pistols 9mm or larger.  Students are introduced to the fundamentals of defensive handgun shooting--"learning how to fight with a handgun."  The goal is for students to become more proficient with their pistol by focusing on drawing from a strong side hip holster, efficient loading techniques, clearing malfunctions, and preparing you for more advanced techniques found in Defensive Pistol I and II. 

​This one-day course is designed for concealed carry handguns, pocket pistols, or revolvers.  Students will learn the fundamentals of carrying a handgun for personal protection, and information to make everyday concealed carry comfortable and convenient.  This course will introduce additional carry modes and holsters for inside and outside the waistband, pocket, purse, appendix, ankle, and cross draw carry and the advantages and disadvantages of each. This course will also include information on essential carry gear, instruction on how to safely carry and draw your handgun from your preferred carry mode, introduce the topic of cover and concealment and techniques on how to use and shoot from cover and concealment. 
​Please note: This course DOES NOT qualify for the MS Enhanced Permit endorsement.

The course also includes information on the concealed carry mindset, other essential carry gear and how to safely carry and draw your handgun from your preferred carry mode. Day 1 range exercises include drawing from concealment, malfunction drills, and shooting from cover and concealment. Day 2 range exercises include timed shooting and qualification drills, shooting on the move, engaging moving targets and force on force scenarios. 

Please note: This course DOES NOT qualify for the MS Enhanced Permit endorsement.

This one-day BFTA™ proprietary course teaches ladies how to safely use a handgun. This course covers the importance of being aware of your surroundings ("situational awareness"), introduces defensive firearms concepts, and covers the legal and ethical aspects of carrying and using a firearm in defense of your self and/or others. This course is limited to eight ladies and is led by a female instructor. 

The completion of this course qualifies students for the Enhanced Endorsement to the Mississippi Firearms Permit.
